🤔Who is Roisin Murphy? And Why Is She Facing Backlash Over Coming Out As TERF (Trans-Exclusionary Radical Feminist) On Facebook? All Explained Here

Roisin Murphy, an Irish singer-songwriter, has come under fire for allegedly declaring herself to be a TERF (trans-exclusionary radical feminist).

On August 23, a user by the name of Joanna Cuddle responded to a post on Facebook about Irish anti-trans advocate Graham Linehan by posting a screenshot of what appeared to be a transphobic statement. The offending message was credited to a user who went by the moniker Roisin.

Even though Roisin Murphy has not yet addressed the TERF charge, many of her supporters mistakenly believed that the transphobic remark was made by her, which has left them deeply disappointed.

Uncertainty surrounds the potential manipulation of the screenshot showing Roisin’s alleged statement because the source of the Facebook post is still unknown.

The post’s actual content is obscure, with the exception of Graham’s obvious presence. In the statement allegedly made by Roisin, she reportedly begged people to stop calling her a TERF and to stop using that phrase to disparage women.

Additionally, she is accused of calling transgender children “youngsters who are confused” and expressing the opinion that they are in need of protection because of their vulnerability.

Roisin Murphy rose to fame in the 1990s as a member of the musical duo Moloko with Mark Brydon, an English bassist. After Moloko split up, Roisin embarked on a solo musical career and released her debut album, “Ruby Blue,” in 2005. “Overpowered,” her second solo album, was released in 2007.

After that, the Irish singer went on an eight-year break, during which time she released solo songs, worked on side projects, and appeared as a guest performer on other musicians’ songs. She made a reappearance in 2015 with the publication of her third solo album, “Hairless Toys.”
