Ten workers were tragically killed and three others were injured in an explosion at a private fireworks factory in Kundayiruppu near Sattur, Tamil Nadu. Karuppasamy, Rambika, M. Muthu, K. Aberaj, T. Murugajothi, V.Santharoobi, M. Gurusamy, Muniyasamy, and R. Jeya. The injured workers have been admitted to Virudhunagar and Sivakasi government hospitals, with their medical conditions being described as critical.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has announced a relief of Rs 3 lakh for each of the deceased families and Rs 1 lakh for the injured. The tragedy has shaken the local community, and rescue and fire service personnel from Vembakottai and Sivakasi rushed to the spot to douse the fire.
