10th Vibrant Gujarat Summit: Tata Sons To Establish Huge Semiconductor Fab Plus Multiple Big Projects In Gujarat
Tata Group's Chairman, N Chandrasekaran, announces semiconductor fab in Gujarat, emphasizing expansion projects, including lithium-ion battery and defense aircraft manufacturing.
N Chandrasekaran, the chairman of Tata Sons announced on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, that the Tata Group will take the full responsibility of building a semiconductor factory. The semiconductor factory has been decided to set up at Dholera city of Gujarat.
Discussing the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2024, the chairman of Tata Sons, N Chandrasekaran said that the group has announced to the beginning of a giga-factory of 20 GW for the manufacture of lithium-ion batteries in two months in Sanand. He also mentioned the company’s investment and expansion plans in Gujarat.
Furthermore, N Chandrasekaran said that Tata Group is also committed to building a “huge semiconductor fab” in Gujarat at Dholera. He added, “We are about to complete negotiations for the semiconductor fab, and start in 2024.” Negotiations for the semiconductor fab are reaching their conclusion.

Expansion Project In Gujarat By Tata Sons
The expansion project in Sanand aims to meet the growing demand for electric vehicles. The chairman added, “Recently, we have made significant commitments to expand our presence in the state of Gujarat. Sanand is becoming home for all our electric vehicles’ technology.”
Moreover, in Vadodara, Tata Sons is also setting up a C295 defense aircraft initially. Later the manufacturing will start at Dholera. The chairman emphasized their various expansion plans in Gujarat in areas of advanced manufacturing skill building, semiconductor fab, C295 defense aircraft, battery production, and EV vehicles. He added, “Gujarat is one of the most important destinations for Tata Group and we will play a key role in its development journey.”
N Chandrasekaran’s Love For Gujarat
The chairman of Tata Sons, N Chandrasekaran also applauded Shri Narendra Modi, the current Prime Minister of India for the latter’s ‘visionary leadership.’ Over a considerable amount of time, PM Modi’s visionary leadership has triggered a “steady and spectacular progress” in Gujrat.
With the establishment of all sorts of advanced and futuristic technological and advancing companies in the GIFT City, Gujarat has advanced in social and economic development paving the way for the future. N Chandrasekaran the founder of Tata Group, Jamshedji Tata was born in Navsari and led to the establishment of Tata Group later. Thus at last he added, “For the Tata group, Gujarat is a very special place.”
