2 HPCL officials accused of stealing petroleum products

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has initiated a case against two assistant managers of HPCL Mathura terminal and two private companies for alleged theft and pilferage of petroleum products. The case was registered based on a complaint by HPCL’s Chief Vigilance Officer.

Rahul Kumar and Hemant Singh, the accused assistant managers, along with M/s SR Transport Company, M/s Jadon Transport Company, and unknown public servants of HPCL are under investigation. It is alleged that a conspiracy was hatched from June 2022 to January 2024, resulting in a wrongful loss of Rs 5.82 crore to the government exchequer.

During the mentioned period, the accused managers allowed the theft and pilferage of petroleum products from HPCL Mathura terminal, benefiting the private transport companies. The scheme involved excess loading of about 642 kilolitres of petroleum products in tanks of the accused private transport companies through 305 instances. The CBI officials are investigating the matter further to bring those responsible to justice.
