U.S. Representative Nancy Mace was embroiled in a huge controversy when an old video from 2016 resurfaced, showing her engaging in a wild drinking game.
Controversy and Nancy Mace are synonymous with one another since she is well known for her extreme right-wing viewpoints, especially when it comes to transgender issues.
Her most controversial views include calls to forbid transgender individuals from using women’s washrooms, calling Rep.-elect Sarah McBride a “man in a skirt,” and labelling transgender people as “mentally ill.”
Critics have accused Mace of opportunism and, as an example, highlighted her change of views from being a champion of equal rights for transgender individuals to advocating far-right ideology. Many point out this shift as an effort to align with Donald Trump’s 2024 ticket.

The resurfaced video shows Nancy engaged in a controversial drinking game, placing her at the center of America’s cultural debates. The video depicts the 47-year-old politician consuming shots of liquor and then handing the glass to a girl wearing a Trump T-shirt. The scene soon turns chaotic after one of the males throws up on the floor.
Nancy Mace, in a statement, said:
“I made a foolish error about ten years ago, which does not pertain to my timeline in political life.”
Ms. Mace also acknowledged that the video is genuine and stated:
“This is why good people don’t run for office.”
The video was used by Mace’s opponent Cindy Boatwright in the 2017 campaign for the South Carolina State House, who called her immature and unfit for office.
However, despite all the associated controversies, Nancy Mace won the seat in Congress in 2020 and was propped up onto the national stage.
Fast forward to recent times, the video is seen in the background of Mace’s recent congressional initiatives, which included preventing transgender individuals from accessing the Capitol’s women’s restrooms.
Mace has been very vocal in this demand and has repeated it more than 300 times in the past three days.
Ironically, Nancy Mace was once the co-sponsor of the Fairness for All Act in 2021, an act that aimed to ban discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender. Mace had stated then that she had very personal relationships with the LGBTQ+ community and had spent her entire life trying to help the community.
