3 killed as car hits tree in Odisha's Kendrapara

Three women artists tragically lost their lives in a road accident in Odisha’s Kendrapara district on Monday. The incident occurred when the SUV they were travelling in crashed into a tree in Ostapur area. The identities of the deceased are yet to be confirmed.
According to the police, the jatra troupe was on their way to the bus stand in an SUV after finishing a rehearsal when the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with a tree. The victims were returning home from nearby Naranpur village. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.
After the crash, locals and fire services personnel rushed the injured to Kendrapara District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). Unfortunately, three women artists were declared ‘received dead’ by the doctors at the hospital. Three others, including two women with serious head injuries, were referred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for further treatment.
The Medical Officer at Kendrapara DHH confirmed, “Three women have been received dead, while three others are undergoing treatment for their injuries. One person with minor facial injuries is currently being treated here.” Locals expressed concern over the frequency of accidents at the spot where the tragic incident occurred.
The authorities are investigating the circumstances leading to the accident as the community mourns the loss of the talented artists. The police are working to determine the exact cause of the crash and ensure the safety of other travelers on the road.
