3rd Test: Jaiswal on verge of making 150 as India stretch lead to 440 runs against England

Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal’s impressive return after retiring hurt on Day 3 put India in a commanding position against England in the third Test at Niranjan Shah Stadium. Jaiswal’s unbeaten 149, along with Sarfaraz Khan’s 22 not out, helped India reach 314/4 in 82 overs at lunch on Day 4, extending their lead to 440 runs.

The morning session saw Kuldeep Yadav frustrating England’s bowlers with a resilient 27-ball innings, while Shubman Gill narrowly missed out on a second consecutive century in the second innings. The partnership between Jaiswal and Khan added 56 runs for the fifth wicket, further solidifying India’s position in the match.

Beginning with nightwatchman Kuldeep’s aggressive approach, the Indian batsmen dominated the session with boundary-hitting displays that left England struggling to make breakthroughs. However, luck eluded India when Kuldeep was run-out after a mix-up with Gill, ending his knock at 91.

The Mumbai lads, Jaiswal and Sarfaraz, then took charge, entertaining the crowd with an array of shots, including sweeps, flicks, and lofted drives, further strengthening India’s grip on the match.

India’s innings concluded at 314/4 in 82 overs, with England trailing by 440 runs. This sets the stage for a challenging task ahead for England in the remaining days of the Test match.

Overall, India’s dominant performance in the morning session has put them in a strong position, leaving England with a mountain to climb to salvage the match.
