4th Test: Jaiswal, Gill take India to 34/1 after Root remains unbeaten on 122 in England’s 353 (Ld)

Young batters Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill led India to 34/1 at lunch on day two of the fourth Test against England at the JSCA International Stadium. Joe Root’s unbeaten 122 helped England reach a total of 353 in their first innings.
India is trailing England by 319 runs, with Jaiswal looking settled and the pitch not posing much challenge. Captain Rohit Sharma fell early to James Anderson, while Jaiswal played cautiously against the fast bowlers and showcased some brilliant shots to gather runs.
England started the day at 302/7, adding 51 runs with Ollie Robinson scoring 58, his maiden half-century in Tests. Ravindra Jadeja stood out as India’s bowler with 4-67. Despite being 112/5 at lunch on day one, England managed to post a total above 350, thanks to Root’s exceptional innings.
Robinson impressed with his batting, reaching his fifty with a sweep off Jadeja. However, his partnership with Root was broken when he attempted a reverse sweep and was caught behind. The innings concluded with Anderson being dismissed lbw while attempting to sweep Jadeja.
In the ongoing match, England set a target of 353 for India in their first innings. Currently, India is at 34/1 after 10 overs, with Jaiswal standing at 27 not out. The game is finely poised as both teams look to gain the upper hand in this crucial Test match.
