4th Test: 'Trying to keep in mind what my team needs', says Yashasvi Jaiswal

Ranchi, Feb 25 (IANS) Yashasvi Jaiswal emerged as the leading run-scorer in the ongoing Test series against England with his impressive performance. Jaiswal credits his success to adapting his style as per the team’s needs and gaining insights from senior players like Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma.

In an interview before day three’s play in the fourth Test, Jaiswal expressed, “It’s been really nice and really challenging to play on different types of pitches. I speak a lot with Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma about how I can change my style throughout the innings and try to make sure that I am always playing for the team and what the team needs.”

During India’s first innings, Jaiswal scored 73 runs before being dismissed by Shoaib Bashir. With this innings, he became only the fifth Indian batsman to score 600 or more runs in a Test series, joining the esteemed company of Sunil Gavaskar, Virat Kohli, Rahul Dravid, and Dilip Sardesai in achieving this milestone.

Reflecting on his approach, Jaiswal shared, “I love changing my game and I love challenging myself depending on the match situation and what it needs. I am learning every day in net sessions and from talking to my senior players. It’s going really well and I am looking forward to the rest of the game. We will give it everything and I will enjoy every part of the game.”

As Jaiswal continues to impress on the cricket field, his commitment to adapting to different situations and seeking mentorship from experienced players like Dravid and Sharma has played a significant role in his success in the Test format against England. His dedication to learning and evolving as a player bodes well for his future in the sport.
