56th National Kho Kho Championship to See Over 1300 Participants from 73 Teams Competing for Top Honours
New Delhi, March 26 (IANS) The 56th National Kho Kho Championship is all set to kick off with a total of 73 teams and 1,332 players, coaches, and managers participating from various States/Union Territories. Organised by KKAD under KKFI, the event will start on March 27 at K. D. Jadhav Indoor Hall, Indira Gandhi Sports Complex.
The championship will see teams from all over the country competing for the coveted title, showcasing their skills and sportsmanship. With 100 technical officials, 50 office bearers from KKFI, 100 officials from KKAD, and 200 volunteers, the event promises a fair and smooth conduct of matches.
Sudhanshu Mittal, President KKFI, expressed excitement about hosting the championship, stating, “Kho Kho is not just a sport; it’s a sentiment to the people of India.” The event holds significance for Ultimate Kho Kho franchises as well, with potential players being scouted for the upcoming third season of the league.
Looking ahead, KKFI plans to host the Kho Kho World Cup in England in September 2024, with 12 teams from 5 continents participating. The sport aims for inclusion in the Asian Games and Olympics in the future. The official Mascot of the Kho Kho World Championship, named “Dhakad,” was unveiled by the Organising Committee.
The championship promises to be a display of athleticism, strategy, and teamwork, with players showcasing their agility and tactical prowess on the field. Prasar Bharti will provide live coverage of all quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finals for both men’s and women’s categories matches on the DD Sports Network, as the official broadcast partner.
