6 dead and multiple injured as bus plunges into canal in Durg, Chhattisgarh

At least six people were killed and more than a dozen injured after a bus carrying around 50 passengers fell into a canal in Chhattisgarh’s Durg district. The tragic incident occurred in the Khumari area, and the death toll may increase as per reports.

Durg Superintendent of Police, Jitendra Shukla, confirmed the six deaths and mentioned that the passengers were employees of Kedia distillery. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed his grief and sent condolences to the deceased victims, stating that proper treatment for the injured is being arranged.

The bus fell into a 50-feet deep ditch, leading to the unfortunate casualties. The rescue operation is currently underway, and the injured have been swiftly taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. Political leaders like BJP’s Brijmohan Agrawal and former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel also expressed their condolences over the tragic incident.

Former Chief Minister Baghel requested proper treatment for the injured and extended his sympathies to the affected families. The authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, while the community mourns the loss of lives in this heart-wrenching event.
