Troy Goodnough, Monroe County Sheriff, informed the press about the details of the incident. The sheriff added that it occurred on Saturday around 3 p.m., reported The New York Times.

The 66-year-old crashed her car, striking Alanah Phillips, 8, and her brother Zayn Phillips, 4, resulting in their deaths.

What Court Hearing Revealed On Marshella Chidester

Upon conviction, Marshella Chidester might face life imprisonment. Currently, the bond amount has been fixed at $1.5 million.

According to the Washington Post, Chidester’s attorney, Bill Colovos, informed the court during hearings that his 66-year-old client has “a history of epileptic seizures in her legs.”

The attorney added that due to the seizure, Chidester lost control of her car, resulting in the unexpected incident. Moreover, Bill Colovos dismissed the claims by police that his client was intoxicated.

According to Bill, the 66-year-old drank only one glass of wine at the bar. He substantiated his claims by citing a search warrant executed at the bar.

Colovos added,

“This is not a monster. It’s horrible what happened, absolutely horrible. I have two children. It’s absolutely horrible. But some things we don’t have control over.”

However, Jeffrey A. Yorkey, the Prosecuting Attorney of Monroe County, denied the claims made by Colovos. Yorkey said that the level of alcohol in blood at the time of the accident was “significantly high.” However, the exact blood alcohol level was not mentioned.”
