To keep the body in good health is a duty, and this means being mindful about your life choices on a holistic level. This includes your diet and hydration, physical fitness, sleep patterns, and mental wellness. The New Year is almost here, and what’s a better time to commit to better a lifestyle to keep healthy?
Here are eight simple resolutions that’ll help you keep health regardless of your schedules or current lifestyle.
1. Train for A 5k
It doesn’t matter that you haven’t run a mile since your gym class days. Running is excellent exercise that burns the calories, melts the fat, lowers blood pressure, shapes and tones your body, and helps you relieve stress.
5K races are beginner-friendly, and training for them allows you to get in shape and build up endurance. So gather your sports equipment and get ready to train, and be sure to take part in the race.

2. Hold a Plank
You heard it right! The plank position does stop time. However, this is the most effective exercise for core strengthening, and you can do it anywhere. Start with 30-seconds planks several times a day, and your endurance will build up to 120-seconds over time.
3. Hydrate
Coffee and juices are great, but you should really try and hydrate more often. Increasing your water intakes clears your skin, helps you lose weight, and increases your energy levels. Get yourself a reusable water bottle and bring it everywhere.
4. Keep Walking
Most people only walk from their car to the house or work, and the occasional dog walk. This new year, aim to walk more and longer. Walk to the store, or to lunch, and talk the dog out for longer walks.

5. More Fruit Please
If you’re avoiding refined sugars, then it’s best to make fruits your best friend for when the cravings hit. Also, it’s a lot easier to commit to fruits than vegetables. The goal is to eat for health: lose weight, keep it off, look younger, live longer, and increase productivity. To achieve this, you must choose healthier eating habits, and refined sugars, junk food, and reckless drinking don’t make the cut.
Increasing your fruit intake will help ease your transition into healthier eating choices.
6. Join that Fitness Class

You’ve procrastinated this and made excuses all year, so sign up for that yoga or Soul Cycle class already. At New Year’s, most studios offer great discounts while some are free for beginners.
7. Sleep Some More
The answer on how to keep good mental health lies in your circadian rhythm. To improve the quality of your sleep, reduce your screen time before bed, dim your rooms completely, and avoid exercising right before bedtime.
8. Create a Morning Workout Routine
There are a thousand reasons to bail on an evening workout, such as after-work lethargy, traffic, happy hour, traffic… it’s endless. On the other hand, morning workouts boost your energy levels and help you increase your productivity.
