His first marriage took place on 21 June 1677 at the age of 10 with Mata Jeeto in Basantgarh. He had three sons. Jujhar Singh, Zorawar Singh, and Fateh Singh. Guru Gobind described the five youths as his Panch Pyara and announced that from now on every Sikh would wear a Kesh, Kangha, Kara, Kachera, and Kirpan. From here the Khalsa Panth was established. Khalsa means pure.
