Farmers’ protest causes huge traffic congestion at Delhi-Gurugram and Delhi-Noida border

Massive traffic jams have been reported at the Delhi-Gurugram and Delhi-Noida borders on Tuesday, February 13. The chaos has been attributed to the ongoing farmers’ protest march to the national capital. Both the Delhi Traffic Police and Noida Traffic Police have issued advisories to commuters, offering alternate routes to reach the city.

Videos circulated on social media showed hundreds of vehicles stuck in long queues at the borders, as multi-layered barricades were set up on NH-24, also known as Delhi-Meerut Expressway, in an effort to prevent the farmers’ march from entering the city. This has led to severe traffic congestion and road blockades at places like Ghazipur, Gurugram, and Singhu borders.

In response to the situation, Noida Police issued traffic advisories, urging commuters to utilize the metro for travel wherever possible. They also offered alternative routes to avoid the traffic jams, advising vehicles to take different routes based on their point of origin.

At the Delhi-Haryana border, traffic restrictions were also implemented at the Singhu border, with Gurugram Police setting up barricades to block NH-48 and restrict the movement of vehicles.

Both the Delhi and Noida Traffic Police have made elaborate arrangements to prevent the entry of the protesting farmers into the city, resulting in significant disruptions to daily commuter traffic between Delhi, Noida, and Gurugram. The situation is ongoing, and commuters are advised to stay updated with the latest traffic advisories to navigate the chaos effectively.
