Purpose will be to search raw talent: BCA chief Rakesh Tiwari on staging domestic tournaments in Bihar

The Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) president Rakesh Tiwari has emphasized the primary objective of the State’s cricket governing body, which is to unearth raw talent from Bihar. BCA will be organizing several domestic tournaments in Bihar with the aim of nurturing cricket talent at the grassroots level in the State. Tiwari assured that talented players will not be overlooked based solely on their team’s performance at district-level competitions, and individuals showcasing promising skills will receive opportunities.

“Last year we staged many domestic tournaments in the state. This year also we are going to conduct tournaments and the purpose will be to search for raw talents from the State who go on to represent Bihar in the big competitions such as the Ranji Trophy, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy, etc,” said BCA president Rakesh Tiwari.

Tiwari also highlighted crucial areas of focus for the Bihar team, emphasizing the need for batting and fielding enhancements while expressing satisfaction with the team’s bowling performance. He expressed satisfaction with the team’s overall improvement, especially as the team is playing in the Elite group for the first time.

The BCA chief also spoke about the growth of women’s cricket and mentioned that there will be a specific tournament for women’s cricket, with a different format designed for the competition. Additionally, Tiwari informed that Bihar cricket is working on two aspects for making the game of cricket grow in the State – cultivation and nurturing the available resources at the district level through initiatives that involve visiting schools and motivating children about the game.

Meanwhile, the Bihar team is gearing up for its last Ranji Trophy match for the season, where they will face Bengal in Kolkata from February 16.

Rakesh Tiwari’s statements provide insight into BCA’s efforts to promote and develop cricket talent in Bihar, as well as the team’s plans for future tournaments aimed at unearthing raw talent and building a strong foundation for cricket in the state.
