Bengaluru Teenagers Triumph in fmsci Indian National Car Racing Championship 2024
The fmsci Indian National Car Racing Championship 2024 kicked off with a winning start for Bengaluru teenagers, Chetan Surineni and Abhay Mohan, as they emerged triumphant in the MRF Formula 2000 and MRF Formula 1600 races at the Madras International Circuit in Chennai on Saturday. Mumbai’s Biren Pithawalla, Hatim Shabbir Jamnagarwala, Angad Matharoo, and Pune’s Diana Pundole also secured wins in their respective categories.
Chetan Surineni and Abhay Mohan delivered impressive performances in the MRF Formula 2000 and MRF Formula 1600 races, respectively. Chetan Surineni took the top spot in the MRF Formula 2000, with Abhay Mohan securing a comfortable win in the MRF Formula 1600 race. Mumbai’s Biren Pithawalla emerged victorious in the premium Indian Touring Cars class, while Chennai’s Hatim Shabbir Jamnagarwala and Chandigarh’s Angad Matharoo also claimed wins in their respective segments.
In the MRF Formula 2000 race, 17-year-old Jaden Rahaman Pariat from Shillong appeared poised to win in the F2000 class, but a last-lap issue with his car allowed Chetan Surineni to secure the victory. Meanwhile, in the MRF Formula 1600 class, Abhay Mohan comfortably triumphed ahead of competitors from Mumbai.
The day’s events also saw some intense action in the Indian Touring Cars, Indian Junior Touring Cars, Super Stock, and MRF Saloons (Toyota Etios) races. The race day concluded with Diana Pundole clinching a win in the MRF Saloons (Toyota Etios) race, despite a safety car period caused by a three-car collision.
