Indian men's team keen to take on Spain in FIH Hockey Pro League

The Indian men’s hockey team is gearing up to face Spain in the Rourkela leg of the FIH Hockey Pro League 2023/24 at Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium on Monday. India previously secured a 4-1 victory against Spain in the Bhubaneswar leg.

India has played a total of four matches in the Pro League so far, with wins against Spain and Ireland, a loss to Australia, and a draw against Netherlands with a bonus point victory after a penalty shootout.

Reflecting on the team’s performance, India captain Harmanpreet Singh expressed that the matches have been crucial preparations leading up to the Paris 2024 Olympics. The team is eager to take on Spain again in Rourkela to further test themselves.

After the match against Spain, India is scheduled to compete against the Netherlands on February 21, Australia on February 24, and Ireland on February 25.

Spain, on the other hand, has faced losses against India, Australia, and the Netherlands, but secured a victory against Ireland in their last match in the Bhubaneswar leg.

Spain’s captain, Marc Miralles, expressed the team’s determination to win every game and improve their performance in the upcoming match against India, aiming to give their opponents a tough contest.

With both teams gearing up for a challenging match, the stage is set for an exciting showdown at the FIH Hockey Pro League.
