Maruti’s SUV Rush in FY 2023-24: Brezza, Grand Vitara, and Fronx Take Center Stage

Maruti Suzuki remains India’s second largest SUV manufacturer in February, falling behind Mahindra and Mahindra. The carmaker sold over four lakh SUVs in FY 2023-24, including popular models like Brezza, Grand Vitara, Fronx, Jimny, and S-Cross. Despite briefly leading last year, Maruti aims to increase sales in the future.

Maruti Suzuki’s shift towards SUVs has been significant, with additions like Grand Vitara, Fronx, and Jimny in the past two years. The company sold 4,04,114 SUV units this fiscal year but may fall short of the target of 4.50 lakh. In February, Maruti delivered 41,256 SUVs, with Brezza, Fronx, and Grand Vitara leading sales. The Jimny, though not as successful as its siblings, saw a sales increase last month.

Mahindra and Mahindra outperformed Maruti Suzuki in SUV sales in February by nearly 1,200 units, selling 42,401 Scorpio models. The performance of the Jimny could impact Maruti’s ability to reach the 4.50-lakh sales target by March-end and its market share in the SUV segment. Despite the competition, Maruti Suzuki is determined to maintain its position in the SUV market.
