5-door Mahindra Thar spotted in Manali before its release

Mahindra Thar enthusiasts have a reason to rejoice as the 5-door version of the rugged SUV is set to hit the market soon. The new model, scheduled for launch in the second quarter of 2024, will coexist with the current 3-door variant. The Thar 5-door was recently spotted undergoing tests in Manali.

It appears that Mahindra is conducting high-altitude testing of the Thar 5-door in varied weather conditions to ensure optimal performance. The test mule spotted lacks LED headlamps and fog lamps but showcases new alloy wheels and revised rear tail lamps. Changes to the front grille and rear doors with C-pillar mounted handles are expected, retaining the iconic spare wheel on the tailgate.

Inside, the 5-door Thar will feature a new steering wheel from the Scorpio N and a larger touchscreen infotainment system from the XUV400 EL Pro. Powering the SUV will be the familiar 2.0-litre turbo petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines shared with other Mahindra models like the 3-door Thar, Scorpio-N, and XUV700. Engine tuning adjustments are likely to match the new variant’s characteristics.

Mahindra’s expansion of the Thar lineup reflects the brand’s commitment to offering diverse choices to its customers. With the anticipated launch approaching, enthusiasts eagerly await the official unveiling of the 5-door Thar, poised to enhance the adventure-ready capabilities of this iconic SUV.
