Formula 4 Racing Comes to Kashmir: Fast Lane with a View at Dal Lake

The first Formula 4 car race event in Srinagar captured the attention of hundreds of spectators along the 1.7 km-stretch from Lalit Ghat to Nehru Park near Dal Lake. The event was jointly organized by Formula 4, Indian Racing League, and the state’s tourism department, earning praise from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The demo run aimed to popularize motorsport in India, marking the first motorsport event in Kashmir valley. Elaborate safety measures were in place, including drones monitoring the event, critical care ambulances, fire extinguishers, and C-type 2-tier barricades. Despite two race cars hitting the barricades, no major damage or injuries were reported.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the organizers, highlighting the potential for motorsports in Srinagar. VK Bidhuri, Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir, expressed pride in hosting such events, emphasizing opportunities for motorsport enthusiasts in the valley to pursue it as a career option. The successful event sets a precedent for more such events in the future, showcasing Kashmir as a destination for motorsport activities.
