Tata Motors sees 14% increase in sales in March thanks to EVs and CNG cars

Tata Motors has recorded a 14 per cent increase in sales, selling 50,297 cars in March. The carmaker sold nearly 5.74 lakh cars in the passenger vehicle segment for the Financial Year 2023-24, a six per cent increase compared to the previous fiscal year, setting a new sales record.

Cars like Punch and Nexon SUV continue to lead Tata Motors’ sales, with the Punch being the leader in its segment and the Nexon being India’s favorite SUV. The introduction of EV and CNG versions of these vehicles has contributed to the company’s sales growth. Tata currently leads the EV segment in India with a large share of nearly 80 per cent.

In the electric vehicle segment, Tata Motors sold 6,738 units in March, a four per cent increase over the same month last year. The success of EVs and CNG vehicles has helped Tata Motors achieve overall sales of 1.55 lakh units, a 15 per cent increase compared to the previous financial year.

Tata Motors expects strong demand for passenger cars in the upcoming financial year, particularly for EVs and CNG vehicles. The company plans to introduce four more electric cars in India this year, including highly anticipated models like Curvv and Harrier EV in the second half of 2024.
