ABC Moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis Fired? Fact Checking The Viral News

After the Republican Presidential candidate, Donald Trump, and the Democratic candidate live debate, a big discussion has been raging in the media about ABC moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis.

There are rumours that ABC has fired two of its well-known moderators.

Did ABC Fire Moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis?

The rumours started when a Facebook account called SpaceX Fanclub uploaded a post on September 11 with pictures of the two moderators along with a caption:

“ABC fires debate moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis: They Are a Disgrace to Their Profession”

The collage of the moderators also contained the same caption.

Later, another caption mentioned that it was a satire post and another message in fine print said:

“Nothing on this page is real and if you believe anything we post you are a potato crop.”

Even though the statement looked genuine, the satirical Facebook post mentions that it does not publish factually correct news, and hence it can now be said that ABC has not fired the two moderators.

David Muir had moderated the 90-minute live debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris in Philadelphia.

However, Trump did berate ABC moderators in his first post-debate speech and dubbed them as “low lives” and called for them to be fired. In an event in Tucson, Ariz., he talked about his debate with Kamala Harris and continuously targeted ABC News moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis.

Trump also accused the moderators of fact-checking some of his inaccurate statements but not doing the same with Harris. Trump said:

“The public was not fooled. They saw right through it, Kamala’s lies and unprecedented partisan interference of two low-life anchors. They’re low lives. These two people were bad news. They kept screaming at me.”

Trump also called Davis, who is Black, nasty and also stated that she looked at him with hatred in her eyes.

The former president had less harsh words for “World News Tonight” anchor Muir and added:

“I always liked him. I’m not going to watch him anymore. Because he’s not legit … And his hair is not as good as it used to be.”

Republicans were not happy with Trump’s performance and stated that Harris managed to bait him and at times got under his skin on topics such as poor rally crowds, his financial fortunes, and his position among foreign leaders.

In the debate, Muir and Davis fact-checked Trump on many of his statements, including internet conspiracies, Trump’s belief that migrants are killing pets for food, and the claim that some Democrats support killing babies after birth. The moderators pointed out that this is already illegal.
