Abhishek Jhunjhunwala from Mumbai Champions praises the Indian Veteran Premier League concept

Former Indian domestic cricketer Abhishek Jhunjhunwala lauds the Indian Veteran Premier League (IVPL) for its exceptional concept and high-quality matches. The tournament, ongoing at the Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex in Greater Noida, has impressed players with its standard of cricket.

Jhunjhunwala, playing for Mumbai Champions in IVPL, expressed his surprise at the level of the game in the league. He mentioned, “Some excellent local players with some icon players, so I think it’s a great concept and the tournament so far has been brilliant.” Mumbai Champions recently defeated VVIP Uttar Pradesh, with Abhishek scoring a dominant 69 off 38 balls.

The match also saw contributions from Peter Trego (41 off 29 balls) and skipper Virender Sehwag (35 off 23 balls). Abhishek showcased his prowess with seven fours and 3 maximums against Uttar Pradesh bowlers, leading Mumbai to victory. Reflecting on his performance, he stated, “Good knock for me today, not out, won the match, that’s what you play for.”

Abhishek emphasized the importance of hard work and passion for aspiring cricketers, advising them to “Just work hard. Just passion, play for the love of the game. More than anything else and just enjoy it.” Mumbai Champions, after their triumph, are gearing up to face Rajasthan Legends in their next encounter on Friday.
