Absolutely captivating chat: Gautam Adani, Uber CEO discuss future collaborations

New Delhi, Feb 24 (IANS) Adani Group Founder and Chairman Gautam Adani met Uber’s global CEO Dara Khosrowshahi on Saturday to discuss future collaborations in India, focusing on green and sustainable energy initiatives.

In a post on X, Adani shared pictures of the meeting with Khosrowshahi, who is currently in India. Adani expressed his excitement for potential collaborations with Uber, stating, “Absolutely captivating chat with @dkhos, CEO of @Uber. His vision for Uber’s expansion in India is truly inspiring, especially his commitment to uplifting Indian drivers and their dignity.”

The meeting comes at a time when India’s green and renewable energy sector is on the rise, with a significant impact on the Electric Vehicle (EV) industry. Uber has been transitioning its fleet to EV vehicles globally, including in India, where Uber Green service was recently introduced in Delhi.

At the Bharat Mobility Expo 2024, visited by Union Minister of Commerce & Industry Piyush Goyal, ‘Uber Green’ was showcased, highlighting the company’s commitment to eco-friendly transportation solutions in India.

Gautam Adani has announced plans to invest approximately $100 billion in India’s green energy transition over the next decade, aiming to scale up to 10 GW of solar manufacturing capacity by 2027. Adani emphasized the potential for India to become a global leader in renewable energy, with Adani Green Energy playing a key role in this transformation.

In December, Adani Green Energy announced a significant investment of Rs 9,350 crore by the promoters through preferential issuance of warrants at a price of Rs 1,480.75 per share. Adani reaffirmed the company’s commitment to driving an equitable energy transition in India, focusing on phasing out traditional power sources in favor of green, affordable alternatives to support the nation’s growth and development plans.
