Adani Total Gas launches production at Barsana Biogas Plant for a sustainable future
Adani TotalEnergies Biomass Limited (ATBL) has recently commissioned operations at phase 1 of its Barsana Biogas Plant in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. This plant is set to become India’s largest agri waste-based bio-CNG plant upon reaching full design capacity in phase 3 with a project cost exceeding Rs 200 crore.
The plant will process 225 tonnes per day of agriculture waste and cattle dung, generating 10 TPD of CBG. Suresh P. Manglani, ED and CEO of ATGL, stated, “The Barsana Biogas Plant represents our Chairman Gautam Adani’s commitment to fully leverage renewable resources for a cleaner, more sustainable world.”
In addition to producing CBG, the plant will also produce high-quality organic fertiliser, aligning with Adani Group and TotalEnergies’ sustainability goals. The plant’s location at Shri Mataji Gaushala will eventually reach an overall capacity of 600 TPD of feedstock, generating over 42 TPD of CBG and 217 TPD of organic fertiliser upon full commissioning.
By utilizing advanced anaerobic digestion technology, the plant aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, lower reliance on fossil fuels, and contribute to the nation’s fuel security and emission reduction goals. ATGL, which is authorised in 52 Geographical Areas, is taking significant steps towards a greener and more sustainable future through projects like the Barsana Biogas Plant.
