Advanced fertility treatments must reach poor: Telangana Governor

Telangana Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan emphasized the importance of making advanced fertility treatments accessible to all, especially the poorest of the poor. She highlighted the need for innovations in reproductive health to be affordable for everyone, especially those in rural areas. Speaking at an international conference on reproductive health, she stressed the importance of eradicating infertility in a subtle and happier manner for all.

Governor Soundararajan, a gynecologist herself, acknowledged that some reproductive techniques are currently only accessible to urban and highly educated individuals. She urged for these innovative procedures to be made available to all, including couples in villages. Emphasizing the emotional impact of fertility problems on families, she called for a more integrated approach in healthcare, applauding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts in integrating Ayush and allopathy.

Praising the Chief of Cardiothoracic Centre, AIIMS, Prof. Balram Bhargava for his role in leading the development of the Covid vaccine in India, Governor Soundararajan commended his efforts in guiding administrators and saving lives during the pandemic. She also appreciated Dr. Roya Rozati, Organising Secretary of ISSRF 2024, for organizing the conference on such an important theme. The conference aims to advance the treatment of fertility medicine through scientific papers, orations, and research discussions.

The Governor urged doctors to prioritize their own well-being, as being mentally and physically fit will enable them to better care for their patients. She highlighted the contributions of esteemed individuals in the field of reproductive medicine, presenting lifetime achievement awards to Prof. G.P. Talwar, Prof. Bhargava, Prof. (Col) Pankaj Talwar, and Dr. Nandita Palshetkar at the event. The conference saw the participation of leading scientists, academicians, and delegates from across the country.
