After farmer leader Naresh Tikait-Rakesh Tikait, Narendra Tikait said the attack on the Modi government

Narendra Tikait, son of farmer leader Mahendra Singh Tikait, has said that the farmers are ready to sit on the borders of Delhi for the remaining three and a half years of the second term of the Modi government against the three new agricultural laws of the Center. Narendra does not hold any official position in the Indian Farmers Union (BKU) formed by his father in 1986 and focuses mostly on the family’s agricultural activities, but he is as vocal on issues related to farmers as his two elder brothers Naresh. And Rakesh Tikait.

Naresh Tikait and Rakesh Tikait have been leading the movement against these laws for more than 100 days. At his residence in Sisauli in Muzaffarnagar district, 45-year-old Narendra told ‘PTI-Bhasha’ that the entire Tikait family, including his two brothers, would withdraw from the agitation if it was proved against any member of his family that he Have done anything wrong. He also dismissed allegations of some sections stating that they had acquired property and money from the movement.

Narendra Tikait eldest brother Naresh Tikait is the president of BKU while Rakesh Tikait is the national spokesperson of the organization. The BKU, under the leadership of Mahendra Singh Tikait, laid siege to Meerut demanding high sugarcane prices, cancellation of loans and reduced water and electricity rates. In the same year, BKU held a week-long protest at the Boat Club in Delhi to focus on the “plight” of farmers.

After the death of Mahendra Singh Tikait in 2011, Naresh and Rakesh Tikait are heading the main organization in various roles, although several factions have emerged over the years in different parts of the country. Narendra said that the Center is in the misconception that it can crush the opposition of the farmers in the same way as it had crushed other movements in the past by using different strategies. “I am here in Sisauli, but my eyes are there,” he said. He said he keeps going to the border of Ghazipur where hundreds of farmers and BKU supporters have been camping since November 2020.

Narendra said, “This government has misgivings, perhaps because it has never had to face such opposition, but we have seen the movements and have been a part of it for 35 years.” This government only has the experience to face petty protests and suppress those protests through various tactics. “He said,” They cannot crush this protest in any way. This will continue till our demands are met. The tenure of this government is three and a half years, and we can continue the movement till the end of his term. “

He said, “If the government repeatedly says that crops will be purchased at the minimum support price (MSP), then why can’t they give it in writing?” They keep on talking about subsidizing LPG cylinders, but this subsidy has also ended. ”Tikait alleged that the Center has done the same for the school education sector, where private institutions are making money, while The condition of government institutions is getting worse. He said, “Now they want the business houses to store the crops and later sell them at the desired rates. Their effort is for business and that is the agenda. “

Asked about the allegations that the Tikait family owns crores of land and is involved in the BKU hooliganism in the area, he said, “There is nothing that they (the government) can prove against us and that’s why (Levying allegations) is happening. If they find any fault in any one of our family members, we will return from Delhi, ”he said. He also denied the allegations of hooliganism by the BKU. They said, “Why would we do this? Some even say that we are taking money for protests. Over 200 of our farmers have sacrificed during the protests. There is no question of taking money for the protest because we do not have any resources. “

His eldest brother Naresh Tikait is the head of Balian Khap. Narendra Tikait said, “We have 84 villages (related to Balian Khap)”. According to this we have three lakh bighas of land. When our father passed away, he had placed the responsibility of 84 villages on us. We are Chaudhary from 84 villages and all these belong to us only. What do we have to do by acquiring more money? ”Tikait indicated in a ‘Sarv Khap’ meeting in Soram that further demonstrations in the near future if demonstrations on Delhi’s borders continue and the government does not agree to farmers’ demands Will be mobilized Significantly, the farmers have been agitating on the borders of Delhi, Tikri, Singhu and Ghazipur border for the last several months to demand the repeal of the three new agricultural laws of the Center.

Uttarakhand's Uniform Civil Code Bill Decoded

When the framers of the Constitution were drafting it, they left the subject of the Uniform Civil Code or UCC as an aspirational dream that could be fulfilled at a later and more opportune time.

Uttarakhand could become the first state where the Uniform Civil Code will come into force. In 2022, the Uttarakhand State Government started the process and entrusted the job of preparing a draft for the UCC to a team led by retired Supreme Court judge Ranjana Prakash Desai.

The Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami-led government will place the draft of the Uniform Civil Code Uttarakhand 2024 Bill (UCC) before the state legislative assembly. The bill will be tabled in the forthcoming four-day special assembly session that began on Monday.

The State Cabinet of the CM Pushkar Singh Dhami-led government had already Okayed the final draft of the UCC, and it envisages uniform civil laws for all the communities who reside in the state. If the Bill clears the legislative assembly, it will be sent to the Governor for approval. After the Governor approves the bill, it will then become law. The UCC was a big sticking point in the elections, and the BJP had promised to make it a law in the state.

What is the Uniform Civil Code?

The Uniform Civil Code or the UCC is a set of laws that will govern personal matters like marriage, divorce, adoption, inheritance, and succession for all the citizens of the state irrespective of their religious beliefs. Today different laws govern these personal matters for different communities of different religions. The UCC will replace all such diverse laws, and there will be only one uniform civil law.

#ReleaseSalmanAzhari Trends on Twitter As Muslim Journalists Protest Arrest of Islamic Preacher Salman Azhari

A motley crowd of Muslims created a ruckus outside the Police Station after Salman Azhari, the Islamic preacher, was arrested by the police. Some Muslim journalists also defended the Islamic radical preacher who had earlier made genocidal remarks against Hindus and asked for his release.

On January 31, 2024, Mufti Salman Azhari gave a very vitriolic speech at a program in the Narayan Vidya Mandir grounds near the Junagadh court. The event was attended by a large number of Muslims in which the Mufti had given a hate speech that could be described as one inciting hatred against the majority community.

The police soon swung into action and arrested Mufti Salman Azhari for his hate-filled speeches. Hours after his arrest, a group of Muslim journalists came out in support of the radical Islamic preacher and asked for the immediate release of the cleric. They have also started the trending #ReleaseSalmanAzhari #IStandWithSalmanAzhari” on X and other social media sites.

One such journalist, Ashraf Hussain, wrote that the cleric was an Islamic preacher and could not be categorized as a criminal. He went on to say that whatever will happen, will happen, and it is the will of Allah.

Another extremist Islamist preacher, Mohammad Asif Khan, said that Mufti Salman Azhari was innocent and became a victim of the smear campaign by the BJP IT Cell.

He also asked the followers of Mufti Salman Azhari to file a case against the IT cell trolls targeting the cleric.

Another scribe, Ali Sohrab, who had behind him a history of vending fake narratives against the majority, also wrote that he stood in support of the Islamic preacher.

Imam Malik, who claims to be a political analyst, brushed off the genocidal statement made by the cleric and said that Mufti Salman Azhari was arrested by Gujarat Police for a poem that contained the word “Dog” in it.

Political commentator Nargis Bano, in a post on her Twitter handle, asked for the immediate release of Mufti Salman Azhari.

The police have obtained a two-day police remand for Mufti Salman Azhari from the Mumbai Court to investigate the case. The police had applied for a transit remand for two days to take the Islamic cleric to be produced before a court in Junagadh.
