Air India signs component programme with SIA for A320 aircraft

Air India Partners with SIA Engineering Company Ltd. for Inventory Technical Management Programme

New Delhi, Feb 21 (IANS) Tata-owned Air India on Tuesday announced signing of an Inventory Technical Management programme with SIA Engineering Company Ltd. Under this 12-year agreement, Air India’s current fleet of Airbus A320 family aircraft will receive component support coverage from SIAEC.

According to an airline spokesperson, SIAEC “will also provide repair and overhaul services for airframe and on-wing engine components.” Air India Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director, Campbell Wilson, expressed his delight at the partnership, stating that “the collaboration will further bolster our repairs and maintenance competencies for the Airbus 320 family of aircraft and enhance our reliability and availability of components for aircraft operations.”

SIAEC Chief Executive Officer Chin Yau Seng highlighted the company’s proven model in providing maintenance support, saying they are “confident to deliver a high quality and reliable service to Air India Group.” Air India already has an existing fleet of A320 family aircraft and has placed orders for another 210 A320 family aircraft, which is part of the historic order of 470 aircraft placed in 2023.
