AirTags A Tool For Stalkers? Apple Faces New AirTag Legal Battle After Fears Of Safety

AirTags is a very popular tool which was invented for helping people who have lost their baggage or AirPods or more.

But it has become a double edged sword by becoming the choicest tool for stalkers. Worse for Apple it has become a legal issue and a legal battle is unfolding after questions have been raised about the trackers safety. It is alleged that instead of it becoming a tool to find lost wallets or misplaced bags it is serving as a popular tool for stalking. Women complained that the tool was used to follow them while men have reported that they have found the tool planted on their car with the intent to be stolen at a later time.

AirTags was launched by Apple with a clear set goal of aiding people to track their missing items like airpods, luggage, wallet and other things. However when Apple launched the Airtags it did not envisage its misuse by stalkers and soon it will become their favorite tool to carry out their nefarious deeds. The increased instance of stalking with the aid of Airtags has precipitated a new legal issue for Apple.

Apple had tried to see that the lawsuit instituted against its tool is dismissed in the U.S. but in vain and a San Francisco judge ruled that Apple must face a lawsuit.  It is now facing legal scrutiny and the company has been indicted of launching a spurious and cheap product which has become the favorite tool for stalkers. Apple is also accused of not taking appropriate measures to ensure the security of its consumers from the inherent capabilities of AirTags.

The lawsuit points out the lacunae in AirTags in its security features and fails to protect its users if it is misused by stalkers. Apple has tried to secure the AirTags from misuse to some extent but the lawsuit has been filed against Apple. The AirTags are not the first tracking tool that has been introduced in the market. The lawsuit also alleges that the stalkers are able to get their hands on the tool for as low a price of $29 and this makes it easy to buy and is available freely for anyone.

It is not that Apple has not tried to fix the security loopholes but has rolled out an iOS update and integrated it into the Find My network that looks to negate any possible stalking attempts using the AirTags. However, the technology of the device negates any possibility of a major tweaking and in a nutshell it can be stated that the device had not served the intended use as envisaged by Apple.
