Akhil Sheoran Wins Men’s 50m Rifle 3P at ISAS Dortmund

New Delhi, March 21 (IANS) Akhil Sheoran continued his winning streak by clinching the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions (3P) competition at the ISAS Dortmund in Germany. His impressive score of 466.1 equalled the existing finals world record held by Jiri Privratsky from the Czech Republic.

Akhil’s victory marks his second win on the rifle/pistol squad’s European tour, following his triumph at the Polish Grand Prix last week. The Indian shooter showcased his exceptional talent and consistency in the competition.

In the women’s 3P event, Ashi Chouksey secured a win with a finals score of 464, outperforming runner-up Sanja Vukasinovic of Serbia. Ashi’s strong performance in the qualifying round earned her a spot in the top eight, further boosting India’s success at the tournament.

India celebrated a double success in the men’s 3P event, with Akhil’s teammate Aishwary Tomar finishing second and Great Britain’s Dean Bale taking the third spot. Aishwary displayed impressive form in the qualification round, falling just one point short of the existing world record.

Despite the stellar performances, Indian women shooters like Anjum Moudgil, Sift Kaur Samra, and Shriyanka Sadangi faced disappointment as they missed out on the finals despite posting high scores. The competition in ISAS Dortmund highlighted the fierce competition among top-ranked shooters from around the world.

The Indian contingent, comprising top rifle and pistol shooters, has been showcasing their skills during the European tour, impressing at both the Grand Prixes in Poland and the ISAS Dortmund competition. The athletes have been setting high standards and making a mark on the international stage.

In the air events, Indian shooters excelled with Arjun Babuta, Divyansh Singh Panwar, and Rudrankksh Patil dominating the men’s 10m Air Rifle matches. Ramita emerged victorious in the women’s 10m air rifle events, while Arjun Cheema made it to the finals in the men’s 10m air pistol category.

The Indian shooters have demonstrated their prowess and competitiveness in various events, setting new benchmarks and earning accolades on the global stage. The success in ISAS Dortmund reflects the dedication and talent of the Indian shooting squad.
