All you need to know about Kundli Matching

Kundli Matching or Kundli milan by name is that reliable process that saves millions of parents from the worry of their child’s marriage. Marriage is probably the most integral part of one’s life, the stepping stone for an eternity of happiness and whatnot. There is a lot of importance associated with this big step to live a fully accomplished life.

Getting married, spending your life with the person you love, having kids with them and experiencing all the many adventures that life brings; who doesn’t want that? But this image of perfect life relies on one basic detail, the choosing of the right partner.

In a social system where, no matter how modern life has become, arranged marriages are still prominent, do we even know who is perfect for us?

Need for Kundli matching.

In arranged marriages, the couple doesn’t get enough time to know each other properly. They barely have some days and at maximum, some weeks, to decide if they want to go ahead with the marriage. We, humans, sometimes fail to recognise a person even after several years, how can we succeed in doing so in barely few weeks?

Not only for couples matched by family, but couples marrying out of love can face this problem too. No matter how long they have been together, and how much they find each other compatible, nothing is constant forever. With different circumstances, things can change, love can fade, what then?

This is where the need for Kundli matching before marriages arises.

What does it tell us?

It is a common misconception that Kundli matching is only good for checking behavioural compatibility between two individuals. On contrary, it has more to tell us than just that.

  • It checks the compatibility of two individuals in more than just behavioural aspect with the help of the janam kundli of both the couple. It checks whether the temper of both the individuals would match or not. If their nature and personality would be harmonious together. Also if their emotional sides would benefit from each other’s presence or are they only going to be a bad influence on each other.
  • It notes the chances of any difficulties or hurdles the couple might have to face in their marriage.
  • The process determines the intensity that can be reached by the couple in the areas of their sexual desire, attraction, vulnerability and intimacy.
  • Other aspects like respect, trust, dedication towards the partner, happiness, love, emotional attachment, etc. are also noted.
  • It checks the possibility of offspring for the couple. It checks if they would have difficulty conceiving or maintaining pregnancy. It also checks if their kid would suffer from any mental or physical illness.
  • The process focuses on the health of the two individuals and how the presence of one would affect the other. Kundli of both the individual merges after marriage and thus keep the power of influencing the health of either of the individual. This process checks if the marriage would cause any chronic disease or even death to either of the individual.
  • The life of the couple merges after marriage, as well as their Kundli, meaning that their career and finances, though different, somehow also merge. It is essential to know whether the partners are lucky or unlucky for each other. If the marriage would become the reason why a partner’s career is failing or would it be the reason that the partner is succeeding in all aspects. Similarly, finances are also looked upon thoroughly.
  • In Vedic astrology, there are multiple defects or ‘fatalities’ that can be found in the merged Kundli of the individuals. These fatalities are known as ‘dosh’ or ‘dosha.’ The presence of these harm causing doshas must be detected before marriage and before it harms one’s life. Once these doshas are detected, the remedies can save the marriage. But if they go unnoticed, the marriage can suffer drastically.

How is it done?

Kundli matching follows a science of ancient times. In Vedic astrology, it is believed that each individual is influenced by the position of the planets, stars, constellations and various other celestial bodies overhead. The exact date, time and location of the birth of an individual is noted for their Janam Kundli. During the exact moment of their birth, the placement of the planets and celestial bodies are noted to devise a perfect and precise Janam Kundli.

This Janam Kundli is used in this process of Kundli matching. The various aspect of a marriage is considered while this process is being performed. As mentioned, aspects like career, finances, health, attachment, childbirth, etc. are considered.

There are various methods available to perform this essential pre-wedding custom. Of all the available methods, the one that is most prominently used is the Ashtakoota method, also known as Gunn Milan method.

It is also presumed that for a couple to a lead a happy married life, they need at least 18 matching Gunns or points in this process.
