Allan Lichtman, also known as the Nostradamus of US elections, who has predicted 9 out of 10 of the US Presidential election results, has given his predictions of who will occupy the most powerful executive post in the country.

The predictions are based on thirteen benchmarks, which are true-false questions on the strengths and past performance of the parties in the fray.

He is not a pushover or an astrologer but has earned a Ph.D. and is an expert on modern American history and quantitative methods at Harvard. He also received the title “Distinguished Professor” from American University in Washington, D.C.

He lectures in the US and around the world on several topics and has authored 13 books and innumerable academic articles.

Allan Lichtman regularly provides political commentary and is also considered an expert in civil and voting rights cases.

What are the thirteen benchmarks?

1. The Party augmented its seat tally in the MidTerm elections.
2. Sitting President running for the election.
3. The party is avoiding a primary contest.
4. Is there a third-party candidate?
5. Strength of short-term economy.
6. The health of the economy in the long term for the last two terms.
7. The party has initiated major changes in national policy.
8. Social unrest during the term.
9. White House term without any scandal and the party is charismatic.
10. Challenger is uncharismatic.
11. Incumbent is charismatic.
12. The party suffered a major failure in foreign policy.
13. The party has foreign policy success.

Of the thirteen benchmarks, Kamala Harris scores on eight benchmarks while DOnald Trump scores in three.

The foreign policy benchmark score is tricky according to Allan Lichtman since the present government has invested heavily in the war in Gaza without any end of the war in sight.

However, even if the foreign policy benchmark is turned negative, the chances of Donald Trump regaining the White House are very bleak.

The history professor at American University is known to have predicted all the results of the US presidential elections since 1984 and has only got it wrong once—George W Bush’s contested triumph over Al Gore in 2000.

However, the results were decided after the US Supreme Court ruled in Bush’s favour after weeks of legal wrangling.

Allan Lichtman had accurately predicted Trump’s 2016 election triumph over Hillary Clinton. He had predicted at a time when most of the opinion polls predicted a Hillary Clinton victory. He had also predicted that Trump would be impeached during his presidency, which happened twice.
