Andhra Pradesh CM reaffirms dedication to making Kurnool the judicial capital

On Thursday, Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy laid the foundation stone for the National Law University in Kurnool, highlighting the government’s commitment to make the district the judicial capital of Andhra Pradesh. The university, second in the state, will cost Rs 1,011 crore and cover 150 acres of land.

CM Jagan emphasized the historical significance of the initiative, fulfilling promises made to the people of Rayalaseema. He announced plans for various legal departments and commissions in Kurnool, aiming to strengthen the legal framework and ensure justice for all.

The establishment of the National Law University, along with other legal institutions, aims to develop a robust legal ecosystem in the region. Retired judges, advocates, and Law Department staff attended the event, where CM Jagan performed traditional Bhoomi Puja after arriving at Orvakal Airport.

Kurnool was proposed as the judicial capital by the YSR Congress government, part of the three-capital plan along with Visakhapatnam and Amaravati. However, the issue is pending in the Supreme Court. The university in Jagannathagattu will not only serve as an academic institution but also nurture legal education excellence in the region, showcasing the government’s commitment to intellectual growth and legal acumen among the state’s youth.
