Los Angeles, April 6 (IANS) The 100th episode of ‘9-1-1′ featured a surprising twist as British actor Oliver Stark’s character, Buck, shared a kiss with Tommy. Even the cast members were caught off guard by this revelation, including Angela Bassett.
Bassett, who plays Sergeant Athena Grant-Nash, expressed her surprise at the unexpected development, stating, “He was quite the ladies’ man from the beginning — the wild card — so this is something new and surprising for him as well.” She mentioned that she found out about the kiss after it was filmed.
Stark, who portrays Buck, revealed that showrunner Tim Minear approached him about the storyline during the third episode of the season. Minear had already discussed the plot twist with Lou Ferrigno Jr., who plays Tommy, before proposing it to Stark. The actor shared, “’I think this is the most truthful way to continue Buck’s storyline.’ And I said, ‘I 100 per cent agree.’”
The portrayal of Buck’s sexuality on the show, and his newfound relationship with Tommy, adds a layer of complexity to the character’s journey. Stark expressed his enthusiasm for exploring this aspect of Buck’s storyline, stating, “I think it’s deserved and I think it’s earned — and I am excited to get the chance to tell it.” The unexpected twist has sparked intrigue among fans of the popular procedural drama.
