Ankita remembers her discussion with SSR about ‘Detective Byomkesh Bakshy’

In a recent interview with IANS, actress Ankita Lokhande reminisced about her conversation with late Bollywood star Sushant Singh Rajput regarding his 2015 film ‘Detective Byomkesh Bakshy’. The film, directed by Dibakar Banerjee, is based on the fictional detective Byomkesh Bakshi, created by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay.

Sandeep Singh, a producer, shared insights on the diverse learnings cinema provides. He mentioned iconic films like ‘Mughal-E-Azam’, ‘Mother India’, ‘Do Bigha Zamin’, ‘Deewar’, ‘Mandi’, ‘Mausam’, ‘Satya’, and ‘Bandit Queen’ as examples of movies that offer unique perspectives and storytelling.

Ankita recalled Sushant’s prediction about ‘Detective Byomkesh Bakshy’, where he foresaw that people may not understand the film initially but believed that there would come a time when they would appreciate such cinema. The conversation highlighted the evolving tastes of audiences and the value they place on diverse and meaningful storytelling.

Sushant Singh Rajput’s tragic death in June 2020 at the age of 34 still resonates in the industry. Ankita and Sandeep Singh emphasized the importance of creating films that challenge conventional norms and offer new narratives. Despite challenges and criticism, they remain optimistic about the impact of such cinema on viewers in the long run.
