Asian Track Cycling C'ships: Indian cyclists claim 2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze on Day 3

Indian cyclists shined on the third day of the Asian Track Cycling Championships in New Delhi, adding two gold, one silver, and one bronze medal to their tally. The impressive performance was witnessed across various categories, including Junior, Senior, and Para Track Cycling Championships.

In the Junior Women’s category, Sarita Kumari secured the bronze medal with a remarkable timing of 36.966s. Sarita expressed her gratitude, saying, “It’s an incredible feeling to clinch the bronze medal in the Junior Women’s category. The journey to this moment has been filled with hard work, dedication, and the unwavering support of my coaches and teammates.”

Meenakshi set a new National Record in the Women’s Senior Individual Pursuit event with a timing of 3:42.515s. Despite finishing fourth in the qualifying round, Meenakshi’s exceptional performance stood out, setting a new benchmark for Indian cyclists.

In the Para Track Cycling events, Arshad Shaikh and Aryavardhan Cheelampalli clinched gold and silver medals respectively. Arshad Shaikh’s impressive timing of 1:25.753s secured him the gold in the 1km Time Trial C2 category, while Aryavardhan added to India’s medal tally with a silver medal in the same event. Jyoti Gaderiya also secured a gold medal in the 500m Time trial of C2 category.

Saturday will witness 10 final events where Indian athletes will strive for top honors. The Indian contingent displayed exceptional talent and determination on the third day of the championships, setting the stage for further success in the competition.
