Assam: One person injured in rhino attack, another in forest guard firing incident

One person was injured in Assam after being attacked by a rhino, while another was injured when forest guards opened fire in an attempt to drive a rhino back to Kaziranga National Park. The first incident occurred in the Bafala area near Kaziranga National Park, where a young man was attacked by a rhino that had wandered outside the park.

The victim, who suffered serious injuries, was taken to Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH) for treatment. Meanwhile, in Golaghat district’s Dergaon area, forest guards opened fire to drive a rhino back to the park, resulting in one civilian getting injured. The injured person was also admitted to JMCH, as confirmed by the park authority.

The incidents highlight the ongoing challenges faced in wildlife conservation efforts in Assam, particularly around Kaziranga National Park. The clashes between humans and wild animals underscore the need for better strategies to mitigate such conflicts and ensure the safety of both wildlife and local communities.
