Jessica Woods Sent To Jail For Attempting To Sell Her Daughter
Police stated that the 33-year-old, after she attempted to sell her daughter, left the young baby behind in Palatka.
Reportedly, on March 5, 2024, police spotted Jessica hanging out in Palatka outside an H&R Block office.
She was with her 18-month-old daughter.
The baby had a bruise on her cheek.
An employee of the company stated to the authorities that the 33-year-old Jessica Woods visited the company once at 7:40 p.m.
She said her reason for visiting was that her baby was wearing an unclean diaper, reported Times Now.
Details as per Affidavit
The DailyMail received a testimony of probable cause which stated that an employee saw Jessica while changing her child’s diapers in the H&R Block toilet.
The worker said that Jessica “smacked her kid after hitting her with her elbow when she was changing the diaper.”
When the next morning, the employee of the company, also the witness, returned to the workplace and discovered that Jessica was dozing off “on top of the outside air conditioning unit.” Moreover, the baby was sleeping next to her but without a blanket inside a shopping cart.
As per the Affidavit, the worker asked Jessica if she or the child needed any assistance. When the worker tried to offer money to Jessica Woods, she became enraged and left with her child.
The witness reported that around 2:00 PM, Jessica approached her for a conversation while crossing the busy street. The 33-year-old mother placed the baby on the ground above the grass.
According to the New York Post, the police report further added that the 18-month-old baby crawled towards the busy road, thus was picked up by the worker.
Then “Woods is said to have made the $500 offer to sell her daughter.”
However, the female worker did not give her any money. To which Woods replied, “You can have the baby.”
When the worker refused to purchase the baby, Jessica left the toddler behind.
The employee cleaned the 18-month-old after bringing her into H&R Block. The employee told the Palatka Police Department what happened.
Currently, the baby is under the care of the Department’s Victim Advocate and officers. She will be there until placed under the custody of the Department of Children and Families.
Jessica Woods was found on March 7, taken into custody, and was transferred to the Putnam County Jail.
