Australian envoy to India explores potential partnerships with Gautam Adani

Australia’s High Commissioner to India, Philip Green, met with Adani Group’s Founder and Chairman, Gautam Adani, discussing existing investments and potential collaborations in renewable energy and critical minerals. They highlighted Adani Group’s investments in Australia, including the Abbot Point Terminal and Rugby Run solar farm.

During an “extended meeting” with Adani, Green expressed interest in future collaborations on renewables, critical minerals, and rooftop solar. Adani Australia’s Abbot Point Terminal, known for responsible coal exports, has a throughput capacity of up to 50 million tonnes per annum. Additionally, the company’s Rugby Run solar farm in Queensland powers 23,000 homes with 65MW of renewable energy.

Adani Mining Private Ltd, operating in regional Queensland, focuses on the Carmichael mine and rail Project, a thermal coal project aimed at exporting coal to Asian countries like India. This project is expected to create job opportunities for Queenslanders. The meeting between Green and Adani explored ways to strengthen ties in various sectors for mutual benefit.

By exploring future collaborations in renewable energy and critical minerals, Australia and the Adani Group aim to enhance their partnership.
