Ayodhya prepares for influx of devotees for ‘Ram Navami’

Ayodhya gears up for the largest ever crowd management exercise on Ram Navami on April 17, with officials expecting over 50 lakh pilgrims. Director General of Police Prashant Kumar and Chief Secretary D.S. Mishra are overseeing preparations for the nine-day ‘Ram Janamotsav’ starting from April 9.

During their visit to Ram Janmabhoomi, officials emphasized on ensuring devotees’ comfort and safety at the temple complex. The festival, observed on the ninth day of ‘Chaitra Navratri,’ celebrates the birth of Lord Ram. Multiple entries and exits are being planned to avoid any stampede-like situations, along with provisions for water and mats for devotees to beat the heat.

Efforts are on a war footing to manage the massive influx of pilgrims, though the actual number remains uncertain. Essential supplies like milk, sugar, tea, and foodgrains are being stocked in dharamshalas, temples, tent cities, and hotels where the pilgrims will be accommodated. The administration is leaving no stone unturned to ensure a smooth and comfortable experience for the devotees during the festival.

Officials reiterate the importance of maintaining regular supply of necessities and ensuring proper arrangements for the devotees’ well-being. With the scale of the event and the significance of the occasion, the Ayodhya administration is pulling out all the stops to make this year’s Ram Navami a safe and memorable experience for everyone involved.
