Shivamogga SP Lakshmi Prasad said that 8 people have been arrested in connection with the murder of a Bajrang Dal worker. The accused have been identified and include Asif, Syed Nadeem, Rehan Sharif, Nihan, Abdul Afnan and Kashif. The SP also said that a total of 12 people were questioned in this case and 8 were arrested. He told that the age of the 8 accused involved in this murder ranged from 20 to 22 years old.

We want to tell you that on February 20, Harsha was murdered. After Harsha’s death, his father said that some criminals killed him because he worked with Bajrang Dal.

After the murder of Harsha, there were protests across Karnataka. Some places had protesters throwing stones. To bring the situation under control, the police had to use tear gas.

After the incident, the district administration decided to declare a holiday in schools and colleges. In addition, section 144 was put into effect. An official said that 14 separate incidents of violence and arson took place in the city (since the murder) for which an FIR would be lodged. Following this development, a police officer said that FIRs have been registered in three cases and the police is looking for those who lost their vehicles and property in the arson and violence.

Even after the arrest of the accused, the curfew has been extended in Shivamogga. The new curfew hours are 6 am to 9 am. At the same time, Section 144 has also been extended for two days. Shivamogga Deputy Commissioner Dr. Selvamani R said that the decision has been taken to extend the curfew period to bring the situation under control.
