In a historic moment for Indian badminton, the women’s team upset top seed Japan to reach their first-ever final of the Badminton Asia Team Championships in Selangor, Malaysia. The team, led by young stars Asmita Chaliha, Anmol Kharab, Treesa Jolly, and Gayatri Gopichand, delivered a stunning 3-2 victory over Japan in the semifinals.
Chaliha and Kharab continued their impressive run in the tournament by defeating top Japanese singles players Nozomi Okuhara and Natsuki Nidaira, while the doubles combination of Jolly and Gopichand secured a crucial point by defeating the world No. 6 pairing of Nami Matsuyama and Chiharu Shida.
