Bengal: CBI apprehends another suspect in ED attack case
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Saifuddin Molla, a grocery shop owner at Sandeshkhali in West Bengal, for his alleged involvement in the attack on ED and CAPF personnel on January 5. Molla is known to be a close confidant of suspended Trinamool Congress leader Sheikh Shahjahan, the alleged mastermind behind the attack.
According to sources, Molla played a key role in assembling the crowd that attacked the ED and CAPF personnel on January 5. He was reportedly involved in networking activities from his grocery shop during the incident.
A team of CBI and CAPF reached Sandeshkhali to detain Molla after learning about his involvement. He was found sitting in his shop and was detained after initial interrogation. The process of taking him to Kolkata for further questioning at the CBI’s Nizam Palace office has begun.
While not officially termed as “arrested” yet, the CBI has detained Molla for questioning based on the information gathered from Shahjahan and other accused currently in custody. The investigation is ongoing to uncover more details about the attack and the individuals involved.
