India’s Saketh Myneni and Ramkumar Ramanathan emerged victorious in the doubles title at the Bengaluru Open ATP Challenger Series tennis event, bringing some cheer to fans at the KSLTA Tennis Stadium. The duo defeated the French combination of Constantin Kouzmine and Maxime Janvier 6-3, 6-4 to clinch the title. Meanwhile, in the singles semifinal, Italy’s Stephano Napolitano defeated India’s Sumit Nagal 7-6(2), 6-4. The Bengaluru Open, organized by the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association (KSLTA), is set to conclude on February 19.
Nagal started strong in the singles semifinal against Napolitano, opening with a 4-1 lead in the first set. However, Napolitano staged a comeback, ultimately winning the match and advancing to the final. The Italian will face South Korea’s Seongchan Hong in the final, who secured a victory over Spain’s Oriol Roca Batalla in the other semi-final.
Prior to the semi-final clash, 2017 Bengaluru Open champion Nagal, who recently broke into the top-100 ATP ranking, was honored by KSLTA Sr Vice President Priyank M Kharge and presented with a cheque of Rs 5 lakh in recognition of his outstanding performance.
The doubles final saw Myneni and Ramanathan’s victory, providing some positive momentum for India in the tournament. The overall results of the singles and doubles matches were announced, with South Korea’s Seongchan Hong and Italy’s Stephano Napolitano securing spots in the singles final.
The Bengaluru Open has provided thrilling tennis action and entertainment for fans, with the event set to conclude on February 19.
