Bharat Ratna awarded to exceptional luminaries

New Delhi, March 30 (IANS) President Droupadi Murmu has conferred Bharat Ratna to five eminent personalities, including two former Prime Ministers. BJP veteran L. K. Advani will receive the honour at his residence on Sunday, following in the footsteps of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 2015.

Apart from Advani, the other recipients of the prestigious Bharat Ratna this year are former Prime Ministers Chaudhary Charan Singh and P. V. Narasimha Rao, renowned agricultural scientist M.S. Swaminathan, and former Chief Minister of Bihar Karpoori Thakur, who were honored posthumously.

This year marks a historic moment as it is the first time that five individuals have been awarded the Bharat Ratna in the same year, recognizing their significant contributions to the nation’s progress and development. The ceremony will take place at different locations, with Advani being honored at his residence.

The conferment of the Bharat Ratna to these distinguished personalities highlights their exceptional achievements and immense contributions to various fields, shaping the nation’s growth and welfare.
