Just before the IPL 2021 auction, a bad news has come for Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun Tendulkar. He has not been selected in the Mumbai team for the Vijay Hazare Trophy starting on 20 February.
It is worth mentioning that only last month, Arjun Tendulkar made his first-class debut against Haryana in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Tendulkar took his first wicket for the Mumbai senior team by getting Haryana opener Chaitanya Vishnoi (four) caught by wicketkeeper Aditya Tare.
However, not getting a place in Vijay Hazare could spoil his dream of playing IPL 2021. The Mumbai Cricket Association announced a 22-member squad for the domestic 50-over championship in which they were absent.
Only 21-year-old Arjun Tendulkar qualified for the Indian Premier League auction after making his debut. He was training with Mumbai Indians for the last few years. His base price for the auction has been kept at Rs 20 lakh.
Mumbai team captain Shreyas Iyer, who did not play in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy due to a shoulder injury, Indian opener Prithvi Shaw was named as the vice-captain of the Mumbai team.
In the batting department, the team also includes Indian all-rounder Shivam Dubey, limited-overs specialist Suryakumar Yadav, young openers Yashasvi, Sarfraz Khan and Akhil Harwadkar along with veteran wicketkeeper batsman Aditya Tare.
The bowling attack will be led by veteran fast bowler Dhawal Kulkarni with Tushar Deshpande and Akash Parkar and spinners Shams Mulani and Earthv Ankolekar.
