Bill Gates emphasizes Indian innovation as the key to addressing health, agriculture, and climate challenges
Indian innovations across health, agriculture, gender, and climate are lauded by Microsoft Co-founder Bill Gates during a talk at IIT-Delhi. Gates, Co-Chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, emphasized the need for innovation to address global challenges and advised students to focus on achieving social equality.
Gates highlighted the importance of Indian innovation in solving various problems, stating, “Indian innovation gets stronger all the time.” He also stressed the significance of tackling health issues like TB and malnutrition, mentioning the Gates Foundation’s collaboration with Indian manufacturers to bring vaccines to the country.
In addition to health concerns, Gates commended India’s digital public infrastructure, noting, “No country is able to take government benefits and get them out more efficiently and effectively to citizens like India can.” He urged for continued efforts in improving physical and mental health, particularly among mothers and children.
During his talk, Gates encouraged students to shape innovations that will have a positive impact on the world. He emphasized the role of innovation in addressing global challenges, stating, “We have many problems in the world, and only by taking that point of view can we shape innovations to improve the world as much as possible.”
As part of his visit to India, Gates also highlighted the need to focus on issues like anaemia and malnutrition. He acknowledged the critical role of innovation in improving public health and emphasized the importance of working towards social equality in future endeavors.
