Bird Flu Maharashtra 2022: 100 chickens found dead in Thane’s poultry farm

At least 100 chickens were found dead at a poultry farm in the Vehloli village of Thane District of Maharashtra on Friday. The District Magistrate of Thane, J Narvekar has given information about this shocking incident.

“With the bird flu threat looming, we have sent samples to our lab in pune” he added.

He further said “Around 25,000 birds falling in a kilometre radius of the affected poultry farm will be killed within the next few days. The district administration has issued a strict order to control the infection.”

Avian influenza commonly known as Bird Flu is a virus that infects birds, especially wild water fowls like, Ducks and Geese. The virus can be carried by the bird without showing any symptoms. This virus can then be transmitted to poultry through the bird’s feathers or feces.
