BJP calls for ED investigation into Punjab excise policy following Kejriwal’s arrest

Chandigarh, March 22 (IANS) – State BJP chief Sunil Jakhar has accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of defrauding the people of Punjab with a ‘conspiracy’ known as the ‘Punjab excise policy’. He demanded an Enforcement Directorate (ED) probe to uncover the role of ‘henchmen’ appointed by the now-arrested Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, including AAP Rajya Sabha member Raghav Chadha.

Jakhar criticized Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for allowing the “open loot and plunder” of the state by Kejriwal’s henchmen. The BJP plans to lead a delegation to the Election Commission seeking an ED probe into the excise policy to prevent further harm to Punjab by AAP.

According to Jakhar, Mann and Chadha were aware of Kejriwal’s corrupt ways. He mentioned that Chadha fled abroad on the pretext of eye treatment, which is available in India, indicating his involvement in the scheme orchestrated by Kejriwal.

Jakhar cautioned that the repercussions of Kejriwal’s arrest will impact Punjab and urged the ED to protect honest officers coerced into signing flawed policy documents. He highlighted the failed Delhi governance model touted by AAP as a shield for their corrupt practices.

Jakhar emphasized the need for an investigation to uncover the truth behind the Punjab excise policy and hold those responsible accountable for defrauding the people of the state. The demand for an ED probe aims to ensure transparency and justice in governance to prevent further exploitation of public resources.
